GRANITE

(2000-2002)

While shooting my first documentary film, I was also shooting documentary photographs and developing the film and prints in the bathroom of my one-bedroom apartment in Athens, GA. On the advice of a customer who came to the restaurant where I was waiting tables, I started driving out to the granite quarries of Oglethorpe County, and began photographing the men who worked there. In 2002, I exhibited this group of images at the Flicker Bar in Athens.
